A hundred years have passed since the Cullens and the Volturi faced off in the
clearing. The family has enjoyed the years of peace, but still there was always
the looming threat that the Volturi had not given up. Edward had warned that
they needed to keep their eyes open, and Alice throughout the years has done
precisely that. She watches every decision from Italy. However, even the gifted
Alice misses some things. Especially when the Volturi knows her weakness and
have their own way of keeping their secrets, guarded.
The Cullens left Forks in 2009. In the beginning it was hard to leave everything
behind, this was increasingly hard on Renesmee. The separation between her
and Jake was ripping her part. In an effort to protect her daughter from heart
ache, Bella made a hard decision. After discussing and arguing her case, she
convinced Edward to allow Nessie to return to Forks. She would be taken care
of by Charlie, and in turn, Bella could feel at ease knowing her father was safe,
and her daughter was happy. The selfless act didn’t leave her unbroken. Bella
missed each second she was away from her child, Edward even more. When
time permitted they would return to Forks and spend a little time there, or
Nessie would come to them.
Alice continues to get glimpses from Italy, she can’t pinpoint the danger she
feels is coming for her family. A vision of a strange coming for Emmett really
puts her in overdrive. She shares with her family that she continues to see
someone, although she can’t place her. She’s never seen her before, and she
cannot see how it will turn out.
It is hard for the Cullens to stay in one place too long. Usually they stick around
for five or six years then more on. Still even with all of this time, they have steered
clear of returning to Forks. Alice cannot see what Italy is planning, and this is
putting the Cullens on edge. They are returning to Forks, but with more members
than they left with. Eight years ago a child was found by Rosalie, she was a
hybrid like Renesmee. The Cullens took her in, again not knowing about the
secrets surrounding her birth. Secrets, she herself did not know.
Aro never gave up on his idea of possessing a hybrid. He was fascinated with the
idea of Renesmee Cullen, more so by her powers. It took a lot of discussing and
promises but he proved to peek Caius’ interest in the “project”. The child they
wanted would have to be gifted. Thus, Aro made a decision and chose certain
members of the guard. Hybrids were born, and when they proved to have no
special abilities they were destroyed. Finally Demetri met a suitable human.
She had keen ability to block certain information from being shared. While Aro
had encountered shields before, this woman chose what she wished to block.
It intrigued him.
The Volturi took the woman in, sheltered her, pampered her, until of course
her death upon delivery of the child. Only, when she did give birth, what they
hadn’t expected was a member of the guard growing attached to the woman.
The three brothers were working on a strategy to rid themselves of the Cullens
and those that had stood with them and against the ruling hand. It was this
distraction that allowed the miscommunication. The human wasn’t carrying
one child, no she carried two. When she died, being split apart by the little
girls inside, the young female vampire that was with her, sheltered one of
the babes.
Once Aro discovered this treachery, the vampire was dealt with. The Volturi
three decided the second child was not worth pursuing. Aro had what he
wanted, a child to mold. Even better, she had inherited her parents gifts.
He is able to plot freely, and he along with the others, continue to point
her against the Cullens. Unbeknownst to any of the parties involved, the
twin is a member of the Cullen family.
The girl, tired of constant restriction and what seems to be never ending
tasks, slips out late one night. She secreted money away and took the first
flight out of Italy. There was a strong pull to America, and more specifically
Washington. The Volturi are not willing to allow her to go, and a team has been
sent to extract and bring her home where she belongs. What will happen when
paths cross, and as members of the Volturi guard settle in Seattle, while the
Cullens return to Forks?
How will the events unfold when secrets are exposed, and alliances are
broken? Can the pact that was agreed upon so many years ago stand between
the Cullens and the shapeshifters, even after members of the pack start
